At the beginning of June the church held a two day pre-planning consultation event where Councillors, local residents and the church family could view the amended church building plans, ask questions and make comments.

Positives: Praise God that 13 out of the 15 invited local Councillors attended and made very encouraging comments. Many neighbours also attended, appreciating the efforts made in respond to the Planning Committee’s previous concerns. The staff team also did an excellent job presenting Councillors with an insight into many LHFC activities.

Not so positives. Before we submitted our last planning application Councillors also made encouraging comments at a similar presentation. We also had a few neighbours visit who continue to be against any building plans (apparent even before they viewed the amended plans.)

Next step: We will be formally submitting our amended planning application shortly. Once the submission has been checked, a public consultation will then follow – this is when we need many supportive comments via the Fareham Borough Council website (details will follow). The decision will then come before the Planning Committee late August or September (once again details will follow for prayer).

Pray: Continue to pray for God’s favour, wisdom when speaking to neighbours and the press, and pray for our neighbours and local Councillors as we all work through the consultation period.

Psalms 127:1 “Unless the LORD builds the house, its builders labour in vain. Unless the LORD watches over the city, the watchmen stand guard in vain.”
